Jenny Mackenzie, PhD, DirectorDr. Mackenzie is an award winning documentary filmmaker whose mission is to produce films that create and promote social change. Her most recent film, KICK LIKE A GIRL, aired on HBO, played at over 50 international film festivals, and is currently being used by the US State Department to discuss gender equity globally. As a clinician, researcher, former non-profit administrator, and mother of three, Dr. Mackenzie uses her professional experience, humor, and real life passion to address the power of social impact filmmaking as a motivational speaker.
David Huebner, PhD, MPH, Executive Producer, WriterDr. Huebner is a clinical psychologist and professor at the University of Utah. He has spent the past 10 years researching how discrimination affects physical and mental health, and exploring ways that interventions can help improve health among minority and marginalized communities. Based on his research, he developed the idea for LEAD WITH LOVE. He was the recipient of a 5-year grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to study lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth; part of that grant provided the funding for the film.
Geralyn White Dreyfous, Executive ProducerGeralyn is the Executive Producer of the Academy Award-winning film BORN INTO BROTHELS and a founder of IMPACT PARTNERS, a donor advisory service for high net worth individuals interested in investing in social impact media. In 1994, she worked with Dr. Robert Coles at Harvard University, to start the Double Take Community Service Corporation which published the acclaimed magazine Doubletake. In 2002 she co-founded The SLC Film Center, where she currently serves as the board chair. She has produced numerous award winning documentaries that have had successful theatrical and broadcast runs.
Christine Siegel Elder, EditorChristine is an editor who has had work shown on multiple broadcast networks. She worked for 5 years as an editor for ZOOM at WGBH in Boston, and edited the award winning documentary KICK LIKE A GIRL, which premiered on HBO. She lives in Huntsville, Alabama with her husband, two dogs, and three cats, and is excited to be a part of the LEAD WITH LOVE creative team.
Russell Huiskamp, ComposerRussell grew up enveloped in the world of piano music. Studying piano for ten years at the University of Utah Music Preparatory Division under professor Say Eow Quah, he eventually shifted his studies to composition, completing four preludes and a piano concerto before graduation in 2006. Shifting his attention to the study of marketing and programming, he graduated from the New York University Stern School of Business with degrees in Information Systems and Music. As an academic, he was awarded the Hanna Van Vollenhollen Memorial Prize in May 2010 for exceptional scholarship in the field of music by the dean of the NYU College of Arts and Sciences. After working briefly in marketing and advertising, he has now made a definitive return to the pursuit of composition. As of 2010, he has studied at NYU with composers Marc Consoli and David Spear. He is currently enrolled in NYU Steinhardt pursuing a Masters degree in Composition, with a specialization in scoring for film and multimedia.
